Gawd, people can be rude and patronizing. If you are starting out , just
meter your LF using decent 35mm SLR equipment with an equivalent focal
length. This makes dinking around with the dedicated handheld meters much
easier and makes it faster to tell how to make the subjective adjustments
w/o burning piles of film.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

What makes you think he/she is teaching it? I rather assumed the OP was a
student.

Sorry, I didn't get anything in your original post about the book that was
coming. I only suggest some of these books because I've found them really
enlightening and the authors seem to be able to take some concepts that I've
had a difficult time understanding and explain them very clearly.

I only joke about BUYing books because Borders and B&N stores around here are
full of folks who'll pull up a chair, get a latte and completely read the books
without buying them...good for the coffee shop end of the bookstore but lousy
for the authors.

As far as getting information from the internet...again, didn't get the message
that you had found some info on various sites and were just looking for some
clarification. I just have found that I've found more accurate and
comprehensive information (and not so much opinion and invective) in print. I
have two kids who have tried to do all of their research for school projects on
the 'net and they've been amazed when they go back to print media and find all
of the stuff that's there.

Don't be cranky...your comment about rec.video and getting a job reminds me of
my time as a student in a "major midwestern visual arts college's film
department many, many years ago.

Thank you everyone who was not snarky; I was able to get
my first photograph exposed, and taken through the the whole
process.
