I'm thinking of using this combo for landscapes. Will i need a bag
bellows for this lens on this camera? does anyone know about the
quality of this lens, vintage late 70's, multicoated version?
thanks

N
I have an older arca and needed a bag bellows with a 75mm. A recessed
lens board might work but is a pain in the posterior. As for the
lens, it is
multicoated if it say multicoated on it. All lenses manufactured by
the big four in the last 40 years will work fine. The limitations
will be on the operator. The shutters are where you will encounter
trouble. Old shutters gum up and need cleaning. If this is your
first exposure to large format and your first lens, I would recommend
starting with a 150mm or 210mm first. Get that under control first
before diving into wide angle land unless you have experience with
wide angle lenses in another format. Read some books on large format.
Most of my landscape work has been at 210 mm and 300 mm. My
experience with the 75 mm has been on stuff close up (big rocks, small
mountains).

Good luck and have fun. Go shoot film. That is the only way to
learn.

I'm pretty sure you will need the bag bellows - as the regular bellows are
straight not tapered, by the time they are closed up tight to get anywhere
near enough for 75mm you couldn't move them (I haven't tried it, but I doubt
you could get close enough for it even with a recessed board. I don't think
I can manage that even with a 90mm. FWIW I use the pleated bag ballows for
lenses from 75mm to 210 and rarely use the regular ones)
