I heard about somebody doing this with Velvia 50 - that is using it at
32 speed and asking the labs to pull the film when developing it. It
sounds interesting. Has anybody done this and what are the effects you
get? If somebody has examples of this webbed then it would be great.

Or should you just assume it is a 32 speed film (I have also seen 40
quoted) and expose as such and use normal processing for a 50 speed
film?

I know a few people who do this - on the basis that Fuji "overrate" the
ISO in order to produce consistent underexposure and hence squeeze a bit
more saturation out. It's a bit subjective, and also related to the
camera/meter. Me, I expose at 50 on my Hasselblad 500 using a spot
meter, 50 (usually) on my EOS3 but always 40 on my Rollei 35.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I'm one of them. I find the Velvia a little too dark for my taste (on
any camera, so I don't think it is meter-related). Anyway the Velvia 50
is out of production now, so this won't be an issue for very long
anymore Sad
