No it is not strange. In fact, for all practical purposes, they do know what
they are doing. If a person does a lot of photography in the spirit of
discovery, he can aquire an intuitive understanding of the visual vocabulary
of the medium without understandng the physics.
Further, the average druge photographer needs to know very little at all to
get along. In my humble experience, it is the least visually oriented of
individuals who feels compelled to spend most of his time in the physics of
photography.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Traveling to Colorado with LF? |

You're welcome. Lindahl's was a Denver mainstay for years. They had a
knowledgeable staff in addition to lots of professional supplies. They
also featured an excellent repair facility in-house.

Once I recalled the name, I later remembered them moving somewhere in
the general area you mention. When they left their shared warehouse
building, Rocky Mountain Moulding moved south on Santa Fe or
thereabouts. The Ossen pro photo stockhouse moved perhaps somewhere in
the "Golden Triangle" area just south of downtown. I now remember
shopping there, but can't for the life of me place the exact location.
Gee, I hope those folks coming to Colorado for large-format shooting
don't wander into this end of the message thread, and then go looking
for these stores for supplies. These two stores, and some of the others
we discussed, are long gone.

I believe Ossens was on Banock? There was also a small photo supply
store a half a block away from them towards Denve proper I suddenly
remembered.
When Ossens went under (partially because people weren't paying their
bills) Tom moved over to PK and opened a rental business using a
corner of Pauls' shop. Ossens book keeping was terrible. I had an
outstanding bill of $257 and sent them a check which got returned!
Then I get a letter from who i think was the former owner saying to
make them check out to him personally. I showed it to the family
lawyer and he said don't. The people liquidating the company can
still get me for the money even though I paid him. So I tried to pay
them and again nothing.

Yes, he purchased the shop from Mr Schwartz, and built quite an operation,
though, I personally, do not know how, with his attitude.

I was still in town, when Lindahl's closed its doors. I think that a son was
given the business, but when the older gentleman, Jack, passed on, the store
was never the same. I do not know Denver Pro Photo. Is Wasatch still
operative?
