I ran a test roll (Ilford 50ASA) through my K88 last week. There are very
thin (about 1mm) black lines at the top and bottom of every frame. The
ends of the lines are beveled inwards, towards the center of the frame. I
assume this is a light leak problem of some sort. The shutter seems to
work as designed, so I suspect a film back leak. Is this a logical
conclusion? I don't see any obvious problems with the back... maybe it is
time for a CLA.

Could it be reflection from the sides of the film gate in the back?

If these lines are outside the frame, they may be where light passes through
a gap between the rollers on top and bottom of the film gate and the edges
of te film gate itself.
The inward turned ends are where the rollers end, and light gets through the
now wider gap between gate edge and roller axle.
If so, this is nothing to worry about.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I've had light leak problems with some K88 backs. Try putting in a roll of
film, but not mounting the back. wind the film to frame 1, take it out in
the sun light, let the light strike it on all sides. Wind the film to frame
three, allow light to strongly strike one side. Wind to frame five, allow
light to strike another side, and so on. Also try jiggling the darkslide
onone frame. Keep notes of all this.

In my case, the light leak was so minor, it required hours, if not days of
exposure to show up. It also showed up above and below the frame in the film
gate. (If the back was at frame three, the fogging would affect frames two
and four.) Because of this, I just use care and don't worry about it.

They appear to be inside the frame, and they show up in prints. I wouldn't
mind it if they didn't show up. My processing lab could be at fault,
though. They use some sort of printing machine that can't be
made to manually center on each frame- it does everything on auto pilot.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
