In the past week, I saw that this new model came out to the stores
near my place. It is a surprisingly nice, compact camera. I tried it
at the store and it has excellent picture quality. The price is very
reasonable, and perhaps is aimed at competing with Nikon P5100 or even
can probably compete with the Canon G9 at almost half the G9's price.
Unlike its H7 and H9 models, it is rather compact and can still fit in
a large pocket. From far away, its black colour and shape look
slightly like a G7 or G9.
I think this will be a popular camera because of its pricing.and
excellent pictures. Did Sony produce similar camera like this one in
the past? I still don't know how the H series come about, as I
thought that this series is for ultra or power zoom cameras.

For some inexplicable reason they left off
an optical viewfinder. As you say it is a nice looking
camera.

I just bought a DSC-H10 before Christmas and I thought I would share
some of the good and the bad about it...

GOOD
-10x optical zoom with an additional 10x digital on some settings
-8.1 mega pixals (OK that can go either way it depends on what you are
using it for, and I hate watching sales people cramming a high end
camera on a person when all they want is to shoot 6x9's of the family)
-The ISO setting I've seen as high as (3200)
- rapid fire shooting. In the sports settings you can set it for a
three shot burst with either a .3 sec or a .7 sec interval. note you
need a fair bit of light to have that work nicely
-the removable lens shroud
- the processor speed is.... well.... it blows the doors of the Fuji I
was using before... press button... wait .... wait.... wait... click.
- the price wasn't too bad

BAD
-The use of only a Litho battery (NP-BG1). It's not like you can run
to the store and grab some AA's. The price for a Sony batt. is around
80 CDN (I found cheaper ones on eBay) I bought a generic back-up for
around 50 CDN.
-The lack of a view finder. The LCD screen does us a lot of power.

There is most likely lost more to add but I haven't played with it
much... yet LOL
