Ground Glass thickness question.... - Hi, All... Is there a specific thickness for ground glass? The reason I ask is that I'm trying to get my Ansco 5x7 going. I have a 4x5 back for it, and a sliding split 5x7 back for it, but the 5x7 split back doesn't have a ground glass. I don't like..

Drawing Grd Lines on Ground Glass - Can someone suggest a way of drawing grid lines on plain 8x10 ground glass? I'd like something that would be stable (i.e. wouldn't just rub off in use) but that also could be removed if a mistake was made. I guess I could always use a Sharpie..

Rubbing compound? Which one for ground glass? - I'm likely going to order a scale from a jewellery supply house [best price for the accuracy needed] they also sell quite a few different compounds for I know somebody awhile back mentioned these could be used for making a ground glass but..

Question for Richard Knoppow.

If one adds an available generic Fresnel lens, i.e., large plastic
reading magnifier, behind one's ground glass so as not to affect the
focus, what is the effect of neglecting to match the Fresnel
magnification/f.l. to the lens?

Is it just a matter of viewer convenience? It seems there are so many
issues with point of reference (i.e., sensitivity of view thru Fresnel
to being off-axis), so would a 'carelessly found' Fresnel add-on not
provide benefit?

I read an article that discussed the selection of Fresnel f.l. relative
to the lens, but people change lenses AND without a custom Fresnel
lens, there are few options for the experimenter.

But read their banner - they are backed up on orders. I submitted my order a
month ago. I'm not sure I even got an acknowledgement. They are that busy.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
