They are probably both 1/4-20, so the answer is more likely yes than
no.

No, you have to do that yourself. Like "automatic weapon," the term
"digital tripod" is a cruel marketing hoax.

Yes, but for $29 and some odd change the price is right for my budget.
The tripods I've seen that
I like cost about $300.00

I think he means "Can you mount a manual SLR on it?" ... and yes, you can.

Looking at it though, it doesn't look very sturdy.

You cannot use a film camera tripod with a digital camera and vice versa.
When you switch to digital, you must scrap everything: tripods, flashs,
camera bags, etc. or your pictures won't look right.

Sorry, the preceding was BS. The standard tripod thread is 1/4" diameter, 20
threads per inch. (known at your local hardware store as "quarter-twenty").
There is a European standard, 3/8" diameter, but you can get a bushing that
you screw tight into the camera (maybe with some LocTite if you're daring),
and then your Kiev will mount on a standard tripod.

There may be other thread diamters and pitches used by manufacturers that
want to force you to stay with their product line. I doubt that Sunpak does
this. Go to your local hardware, get a quarter-twenty nut and bolt if you
want to test it out before risking your camera or tripod.

Well, I started out with a similar tripod. False economy in my opinion.

Eventually ended up with a Tiltall for around $100 which lasted me a
good bunch of years, and finally invested in a set of Bogen legs & Ball
head.

eBay has some good tripod buys.....I bought a $300 pod a few years ago for
about $100. It had been used by a pro, and had a lot of tape stuck to it,
but after cleaning all that stuff off, it was as good as a new unit. By now,
some of the newer carbon fiber units should be showing up on eBay from time
to time......

Well, the "digital" tripod is useless. It doesn't fit for my
NIKONF10.
