Interestingly enough, now that APS SLRs have
been discontinued for so long, they are also a
bargain to buy.
I was looking for a lens for my Minolta Vectis
S-1 SLR. I found the lens but it came with
the body for less than $100 ($79 if I recall
correctly, like new)!
Before getting the S-1, I had two APS point
and shoot cameras. Looking at the pictures,
it is obvious the S-1 is a much better camera
with better lenses. The high end cameras
are the only way to see what the APS format
is capable of. >> Stay informed about: APS SLRs are a bargain |

I agree. I still like the feel of my EOS IX (not the lite version), though I
never use it any more since going digital SLR. An APS film frame is the same
size (or a little larger) than the sensors on the most popular digital
cameras today, and very few people are complaining about the image quality.
Yet, many of these same folks were constanly deriding APS as not being large
enough to produce a decent image. They were blinded by prejudice, and by
examples from cheap P&S cameras, rather than giving an honest look at what
APS could do when placed behind a decent lens.

We do get more out of our DSLR smaller frame sensor than I can get out
of print film on the EOS IX with the same lenses. Now if they had
bothered to bring out the slide film in the US for APS then we would
have had a bit more fun and stick to wave at them.

I actually got some of the Fuji APS slide film while in Europe, and have
been duly impressed. That and the old F100 were very fine grained. (The H400
wasn't too bad, either) Never much cared for the Kodak color APS films, but
the b&w is pretty nice.

The ISO 100 Agfa Future II was the best APS color print film I've
found. There's 100 rolls of it up for auction at eBay; I have to
admit to being tempted:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2965917539" target="_blank">http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2965917539</a>
The worst was a "free roll" of private labelled Konica 400, although
that may have been due to lousy storage. I haven't been able to find
the new Agfa stuff, any experiences?

Yeah I have to admit I did not like the Konica 200 that I tried. I
like their 35mm Centuria though. I was not too happy with Kodaks films
either. The Fuji 100 always out performed the Kodak.
Took a look on Ebay and it seems the stocks of Fuji 100 are exhausted.
Never tried that AGFA.

I'm going to give Kodak another try. I just picked up a three pack of
High Definition 200 in APS format. Supposedly, this is the same
emulsion as Supra 200, which was a perfectly reasonable film.
Price was $9.74 for 3 25-roll pack, which is only about 9% more than
the equivalent 35mm film at the same store, and about 17% more than
I normally pay for Fuji NPS in 35mm.

They're putting HD200 into APS cassettes? I thought only HD100 was
available in APS.

HD200 is only available in US , HD100 is only available in Europe (I think
we in the EU got the better deal)
HD200 is reported as having large grain and inferior quality compared to
Fuji Nexia 200 or even 400! HD100 I can vouch for as very nice film , tight
grain although not as tight as old Fuji F100- good colour saturation and
contrast.

Oh good. I just received my first consignment so look forward to seeing
the results of shooting the first few rolls...
The geographical limitations of HD100 and HD200 APS distribution is odd.
The outer pack of my HD100 3-pack says "Made in USA..." I bought it in
Europe, though.
