Post subject: SF Lens Question
Archived from groups: rec>photo>equipment>large-format (more info?)

Are these sharp lenses that are made soft-focus by using the discs
or are they designed to be soft and made softer with the discs?
I'm wondering specifically about the Fujinon 240/5.6 for 8x10.

Thanks,

Collin

I think you mean the 250mm Fujinon-SF.

Some aberrations are deliberately, with more or less art, left uncorrected in
soft focus lenses.

The discs, in fact, render the lens sharper by virtue of stopping down the
actual taking aperture. You will find a soft focus lens softest at its widest
aperture.
