I did not weight them, but the SB800 was considerably taller than the SB600.
When placed on the camera (I have a Nikon 8800), the SB800 certainly *felt*
much heavier -- and was enough larger that it would not fit in the case I
was using. The point about the case was *not* a deciding factor because I
could easily have the replaced the case. I am using it to show that there
was a noticeable difference in size. I realize that "much heavier" can be
relative, but when comparing to the overall weight and use of a camera, the
difference was important to me. It has been some time, of course, since I
compared them. I thought both were excellent products and for me the
decision rested how they would be used.
