A few days back I was out shooting in drizzle, and by the time I was
home I was down for the count and sick as a dog. Today I'm back on my
feet and to my horror a waft of mildew came from inside the pelican
case with my beloved 360 Siranor N . I pulled off the cells and the
rear has some hazyness on the inside that seems like it may be drying
out. I tested the shutter and it seems ok.
Assuming the haze clears are there any other things I should worry
about? I pulled it out about an hour ago.
TIA
Brook

About all you can do is to take the cells off and put the
lens in a warm place. The cells themselves _should_ be
sealed. If it appeard moisture got into them I would contact
HP marketing, the US distributor for the lens, to see who
their recommended service agency is. Moisture trapped in the
cells can support fungus growth and the moisture itself can
cause damage to the glass if its there long enough. My guess
is that not much water got into the lens.
Shine a flashlight through it to see whats there.

I you smelled mildew, you might also consider replacing the foam in the case
and disinfecting everything else. Just to be safe.

I think I may well, the source was a wet dark cloth that I stupidly
put in the case that should have been thrown in the back of my truck
where it usually lives.

Try putting the cells in the direct sun for awhile, this has worked for me.
