Having used an E-1 for several months now, I would agree 100% with
Michael Reichmann's conclusions.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Reichmann on the 4/3 system |

Yeah, right. He has used or owned every camera ever made! But the only
images he ever posted looked like thay were made by a child, and he quickly
took them down!

Hi T P

What about this part of the review:
"It seems to me that history is about to repeat itself.
Olympus was the champion of the failed but elegant
little half-frame format of the 1960's, and now appears
to be heading down the same path. A shame really,
because the E-1 is a very fine camera in many ways, and
deserves better than to be built around a format that,
like half-frame, may turn out to be just a footnote in
the history of photography."

That's Michael Reichmann's personal opinion, and he is entitled to it.
However, the truth is that half frame was a considerable success in
many markets, not least in Japan and the Far East.
Let's not forget that Olympus Optical's foray into half frame, which
itself spawned such seminal introductions as the Pen FT, was such a
massive commercial success that it gave Olympus the finance necessary
to develop the outstanding OM System of 35mm SLRs, lenses and
accessories.
The technology of miniaturisation of components needed to manufacture
a half frame SLR such as the Pen FT meant that the OM-1 could be
produced as a camera that was robust enough for hard professional use
yet was smaller and lighter than any SLR previously made.
Far from being a "footnote in the history of photography", the half
frame format enabled Olympus to make history by introducing the OM
System, whose influence is still being felt in 21st century SLRs, both
film and digital.
Michael Reichmann is just plain wrong.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Reichmann on the 4/3 system |

So you can do better? Prove it! Post a link to your outstanding body
of work, I'm sure we'd all like to see it!
Mr. Reichmann's site is chock full of photographs, his Video Journal(
which I have every issue of) is as well.
And for your information, Michael Reichmann probably has forgotten
more about photography than you or I will ever know, and ever will
know for that matter.
Remember we're waiting to see your wonderful photography.

I'm pretty sure the poster was referring to Tony Polson as a talent-less clown,
not to Reichmann. Re-read the post.

Yes, I was referring to Poulsen.
The only reason that I hold his feet to the fire is because he holds himself
out as an expert, and continually berates people, apparently for the sport
of it.
He has already been kicked off of several other moderated newsgroups for
having exhibited the same obnoxious behavior.
The few samples of his work that we have seen have been pitiful. He
continues to claim that he has owned or used virtually every high end
photographic product, but he goes underground every time he is challenged to
prove it.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Reichmann on the 4/3 system |

I doun't think he forgets - he simply doesn't know anything he isn't paid to
know. THe landscaper is a fraud. A bad photographer who's reviews obviously
reflect the fact that they are bought and paid.

My Steareo Realist was a half frame 35mm camera. It is an excellent size for
steareo slides.....<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Reichmann on the 4/3 system |
