Wal-Mart sells some 35mm film made by Agfa that they call Polaroid.
This is similar to Walgreens selling Agfa Vista and calling it Studio
35, which I have used. The problem is that Studio 35 sells for 3
dollars and change for a 24 roll, while Polaroid sells for 97 cents a
roll. Now I'm a little scared of film selling at 97 cents a roll! Is
this stuff really Vista? Is there something wrong with it?

I had to pass the negs on to my relatives, so I can't say if the edge
markings indicate Vista or HDC, but the results were wonderful.
There's nothing wrong with it, and some things are right. One is the
results in Fluorescent light; just fine, fine. No greenish cast at
all.

As far as I know it is Vista, but even if it isn't you'll get good
prints from it. At least I have.

I suspected it was probably not Vista. I couldn't figure out the
price difference between Walgreens and Walmart. How can one store
sell the same film for 3 or 4 times as much as another?

No, it's not Vista. It's a much older Agfa emulsion made cheaply exclusively
for Wal-Mart under the Polaroid brand. It has much more grain and muted colors
compared to either Agfa Vista or Walgreen's brand (which is Agfa Vista).

When I hold up a strip of negative from the Walgreens film (Studio
35), it says High Definition 200, a strip of Wal-Mart stuff (Polaroid)
says High Definition 400. Other than the speed, the negatives are
marked the same. Whether Vista or cheap stuff, they appear to be the
same product.
