I recently purchased an Optio S 5i and notice that there is more "noise" on
the LCD screen when operating in low light conditions than on my previous
model Optio S 4i. The images taken with this camera are fine and do not
display any noise. Has anyone noticed this?

Some cameras will increase the screen "gain" in low light conditions.
Because the exposure for each preview image must be less than the screen
refresh interval, it may appear noisy in low-light conditions. I would
expect the actual exposure of the final image to be somewhat longer than
the screen refresh interval (say 1/10s instead of 1/30s), and thus have
less noise.

Does that agree with aht you are seeing?

David,

Thanks for the explanation. That is exactly what I am seeing.
