The original T6-2X converter was usable with lenses of 135mm to 800mm
(except that it wasn't usable on the 500mm lens). You probably have that
older converter since you refer to it as an "Asahi." It looks like they
changed something somewhere along the line because the current Pentax lens
booklet says the 2X extender isn't usable with lenses of 500mm and longer
but says nothing about it not being usable with any lens shorter than 500mm.
