It's very bad. The CA is so severe that it looks as though there is a
second pair of ears of a different colour behind the first.

The only cure is to spend much more money on a new high end DSLR and a
collection of pro lenses.

Tons. The only solution is to dump the 40D and move to a Nikon D3. The D3
sucks, but at least it has sufficient noise reduction on the RAW file so the
second set of ears and mutt head would be removed before the file was saved.

Buying a new high end DSLR and a collection of pro lenses cures every
photographic ill that you could think of.

What ... and no one suggested that to cure the "ear problem" you
should:
1. Shoot in RAW
b. Remove all filters
III. Shoot from a tripod
4.0 NEVER use RAW
v. Get better flash cards
F. Get a book.
7. Don't take pictures until you've learn photography.

Hint the color shift is not the normal you would see with CA and it is
many pixels in size.
