Well, yesterday I decided to change the service I use to have my rolls
developped and printed, given that they had forgotten the meaning of
PQI.
The new one is a Fujifilm FDI center, and I must confess that I am
impressed...
The problem is that they give me back the photos in a simple envelope.
Do you know where I can buy decent boxe to keep the photos?
The best boxes where those used by FNAC, when I worked in Monte Carlo.
Another point...
Should I happen to have money, and should I decide that I really need
an APS reflex, what should I start looking for?
Which maker? Which model? Where?
Thanks! >> Stay informed about: APS Mumblings |

Last time I checked Minolta's still making their Vectis line of SLRs.
Nikon's Pronea is still available as an import (check B&H). As has been
discussed here though, the Vectis lenses won't work on Dynax/Maxxum
cameras or vice versa. Nikon's older manual and AF lenses will work on a
Pronea, however but their IX lenses won't work on their 35mm bodies (just
found that out here). Canon's cameras I believe are MDed, however they
are still plentiful on eBay, as are used and overstocked Vectis and Pronea
SLRs. If your looking in the discount market, both eBay and discount
stores that stock discontinued cameras, this is the golden age for APS.
As rubes switch to digital, film users can snap up the bargains.

In December I picked up a NEW Vectis S-1 (top of the line with midroll
change etc) and the 26-56 zoom (not their best but the usual standard)
on ebay for $40, the dedicated flash NEW on ebay for $12 and later the
55 macro lens for about $30. You don't always do as well as that but
the Minolta Vectis is a good APS SLR that has a fairly wide lens
choice, comes with a popup flash (the dedicated flash is better) and
has the benefit of the whole line being relatively water resistant - at
least rain resistant, anyway.

Btw, the IX lenses _do_ work in the DCS 330 (if antialising filter is removed)
and the DCS 315.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: APS Mumblings |

It seems that everybody is pointing me to a Vectis... B-)))
A chap in the apsphotography Yahoo Group also pointed to the S-100,
what are the differences between the S-1 and the S-100?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: APS Mumblings |

The S 100 costs less and does NOT have midroll exchange. The S 1 DOES
have midroll exchange. I don't know if there are other differences
though the S1 has a wealth of program modes and I'd wager the S100 has
a few less. The lenses used are the same.

Well, given that now I am fishing for an S-1, which lenses should I
look for?
The problem is finding a NEW one, yesterday one slipped through my
fingers for $.49...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: APS Mumblings |

I have used both and I recall noting these differences:
S1 has shutter/aperture info in viewfinder, S100 does not.
S1 prints full exposure detail on film, S100 does not.
S1 has shutter, aperture and full manual control, S100 has just shutter and
aperture control.
S1 can use AA batteries via an accessory, external battery pack, S100 cannot
(as far as I know).
Oh - both bodies can be used on manual focus when the lens has this feature
BUT with the S1 the autofocus can be over-ridden by adjusting the lens's
focus ring manually. The S100 doesn't have this feature.
S1 can take external flashguns (including some of the big ones for the 35mm
SLRs). S100 does not have an external flashshoe.
Hope this helps.

It help(ed), thanks nonetheless..
Currently I own a black S-1, with SF-1 flash, BP-S1 battery pack and
28-56 and 56-170 lenses.
Two days ago I also have won an EBay auction for another S-1, titan
body, with the 22-80 and 80-240 lenses.
Neato...

S1 also has spot metering which S100 does not.
