I just installed a USB 2.0 card in the hope that my FZ20's
pictures would transfer faster to the computer, but it still
seems pretty slow. Does the camera only support USB 1.0?

Most cameras, at least until you get to the higher end DSLRs only support USB
1.1 speeds, even though you can plug them into a USB 2 connector.

With the FZ20 no exception. I use a USB 2.0 compliant card reader for image
transfers from my FZ20 card.

DP Review say: USB 2.0 Full Speed (12 Mbits/s)

However, the term "hi-speed" would describe what you are expecting.

Get a high-speed card reader, and be aware that you may need to install
hi-speed USB drivers as well.

Cheers,
David
