Something over a year ago there was a lot of traffic in this NG
regarding the Elph Jr. suddenly putting up the letter "H" on its LCD
and becoming frozen. at that time I had limited experience with the
"dreaded H" and only when loading, rarely, a new roll. It was cured by
removing the film, the batteries, and resetting. Today it happened in
the middle of a roll and froze the lens in the out position. Nothing
resets it. I was able to salvage the film because it rewound it (losing
the last 6 pictures) but no matter how long I have the battery out,
when I replace it it just blinks and then if I try to turn it off it
goes into "H" again on the LCD and freezes up. Is the camera now just
junk? Or can it be reset somehow.?

It happened to me one time a couple years ago, and it turned out that a new
battery I was using was no good. Try another one.
By the way, I have accumulated five like-new Elf Jr.'s. If you need another
one, I'll let one gol one reasonably. Five is probably three too many for
me, but it is one heck of a camera.
