I bought the Canon EOS 10D body last week. I'm happy to report that my
plan to buy an EOS IX body and lenses with the intent of future use on
the EOS digital bodies has worked like a charm. The 22-55mm, 50/1.4 and
100/2 lenses give me just about the same field of view (when using C
framing on the IX) and the IX body presents a useful film backup for
the 10D. I added a 20/2.8 to the kit and will soon add the
100-400/4.5-5.6L as well.
I don't know how much more film I'll be shooting, I haven't used any
all year long, but the EOS IX body remains a gem.
The 10D body is a gem too: right up there in quality with my old Nikon
and Leica 35mm cameras, it has great controls, very quick
responsiveness and excellent low light performance. Took some pictures
with it last night, using the 50/1.4 and shooting between ISO 400 and
1600 ...

There's a main and six others linked there.
I'm very pleased.
