Try your local library. Most libraries have a number of books on photography. Focal press is a good publisher- take a look on the shelf for one or two of theirs. But there are a number of other good ones. Kodak also has published some good photo books. Also, see if there is a local camera club in your area. >> Stay informed about: DSLR

I do agree to a degree, however. It's also true for virtually all fields of interest, where the adage "practice makes perfect" is usually equally valid. It's perhaps a little harder for "practice makes perfect" to be as valid for photography, because some people aren't concerned enough about improving their skills, and won't take the necessary time to inspect and evaluate their shots, but will keep on happily snapping. Anyone that goes to the trouble to pay in time and money for a photography workshop, however, is very unlikely to be one of those 'happy snappers'. >> Stay informed about: DSLR
