Title says it all. Serial number is 29XX. I'm sure it's more than 4x5, but
am curious just how much more.

Thanks!

These are about 100 degree lenses so it will just about cover 5x7
although Schneider lists it as a 4x5 lens. They give the image circle
at f/22 as 215mm.

But it's not a Schneider lens - it's an Ilex lens.

I'm going from memory here. From an Ilex brochure I have from about 30
years ago, which I don't have easy access to right now (It's stored in
a box with all my other "old" photo brochures), they made a 90mm f8
under the name Acugon. It was a "modern" 6 element 100 degree lens.
So, the image circle would be around 210mm. Had a 67mm filter size, I
believe. Calumet at the time (and in the 60's) marketed Ilex made (and
Bausch & Lomb, too) lenses under the Calumet name. Later, they did the
same with Schneider lenses. Today, I think most Calumet larger format
lenses are made by Rodenstock.

Now, if this is an Ilex "copy" of the Kodak Wide Field Ektar of the 50s
and 60s, it would be a 4 element, 90 degree lens and cover about 180mm
at infinity.

Its the same type as Schneider Super Angulon with very similar
characteristics. Calumet also sold Schneider Super-Angulons under its
name but they are marked Schneider. I misread the original post.
Somewhere I have a Calumet catalogue listing this lens, I will try to
find it.

AFAIK, the Ilex Acugon was the same lens as sold through Calumet under
the Caltar name. Ilex made several lenses for Calumet, all of good
quality. I am unaware of any Calumet lenses made for them by Bausch and
Lomb, can you identify any? Calumet marketed some Schneider lenses
but as Schneider. Later Caltar lenses were made by Rodenstock who also
made lenses for Graflex under the Optar name after Graflex dropped
Wollensak. Both the Rodenstock and Schneider lenses are of very good
quality.

I have one of those and I've gotten 5x7 out of it. The bellows on my
B&J flatbed were squished pretty tight so it was straight on but the
corners were covered nicely and I didn't see any fall off. I'm guessing
you could get a little movement if you didn't mind a little darkness in
the corners.

The Bausch & Lomb comment is a vague memory. Perhaps a mistaken one. I
just seem to remember seeing Bausch & Lomb optics in a very old Calumet
catalog. Or maybe I read about it somewhere, sometime.
