Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive

I may have a chance to visit the area of the Blue Ridge Parkway
drive Skyline Drive in Virginia later this month. As I've never
been there, I would appreciate suggestions from photographers
of places I should see. What are "not to be missed" places,
including those you need to hike to? I'll have 35mm/Canon 10D
and probably leave the 4x5 home (or is that a mistake?).
I'll have about 3 days.
